Figure Problems and Solutions

My Figure is ‘Sweating’?...

PVC figures may sometimes release oil and look like the figure is ‘sweating’. This is mostly common when there is high temperature around and the figure is still in box wrapped in plastic. A solution to prevent this is to keep figures in cool areas (not direct in sunlight or exposed to heat) and also open figures from their boxes, at lease their blister box for a couple of minutes, just so the figures will take some ‘air’.

PVS is plastic and plastic is waterproof. It is safe to wash your figures but not on a regular bases. It is important to not scrub the figure as this may damage the paint. If the figure is difficult to wash, then submerge figure in water for an hour or so, rinse in running water and leave to dry naturally or wipe carefully.

WARNING:  NEVER wash Cold Casts, Polystone or Resin, just clean with a damp cloth only.

Help my figure is leaning!

The majority of figures that lean are those that are made entirely of PVC.  This may occur because the figure was exposed to a high temperature environment. This may not occur instantly but it may take years for the figure to eventually bend. However not all PVC figures bend, it depends on their structure as well. Also, by 2007/8 some figures nowadays are not made entirely of PVC but are mixed with ABS too just to avoid leaning problems, and also if entirely made of PVC, the figures are made lighter. Though there are figures released recently that do show signs of leaning like this figure for example:

However there are solutions to fix this leaning problem.
PVC is thermoplastic so if heat is applied to the area it can be re-bended to how it used to be.

You can place the figure back in its blister box and eventually will regain its original structure. However this may take awhile ^^’...

Best solution is to use warm water on the area so the PVC will soften enough to bend back into place. Another fast solution, but need to be done very carefully and gently, is using a hairdryer. A hairdryer will heat the area very quickly and may damage the PVC as well as the paint (Warm water will not damage the figure as well as the paint). If the hairdryer is used and you bended the figure to its original structure, use cold water after so the PVC will harden again.
